On January 16, 2014, I made a bet with my girlfriend to see if I could get a six pack in three months. The deadline was yesterday, April 15, 2014.
Let’s see how I did.
So Did I Win The Bet?
Last night, upon reviewing these results, my girlfriend was gracious enough to declare that I had won the bet. It’s certainly debatable how much definition in the abs is needed to constitute a "six pack", but I’ll gladly take the win. Even without a picture-perfect six pack, the significant progress I’ve achieved in a short period of time is undeniable.
With minimal exercise and a low-carb, high-fat diet, I went from weighing over 68 kg (150 lbs) to weighing 60.6 kg (133 lbs) with 10% body fat in a span of three months.
Of course, this experiment was never really just about the superficial six pack. More importantly, it was about learning how adjustments to diet and exercise can impact my body’s ability to lose weight and burn fat. And even more importantly, it was about discipline.
I’ve certainly learned a great deal from this experiment and hope to share my learnings on how to burn fat after I’ve had more time to reflect on the past three months. In the meantime, you can check out my previous posts on this experiment here: 1, 2, 3, 4.
I also look forward to designing my next experiment so if you have any interesting ideas/suggestions, please leave a comment below!
